TheApartment exhibits an Apartment
April 13, 2005

Stefan, David, and all the great people at the fashionable interior design companyTheApartment, have exhibited an interior during this year's New York Design Week. The huge apartment was the largest I've seen in my 8 years in New York. They redeveloped a few apartments in this converted YMCA building, with the top apartment making use of the old basketball gym! This led to a wide open space for a living room, a theatre room, a walk-in closet with discoball, etc.

Included in the opening of the space was a selection of artworks, photographs, and paintings from various artists. I was invited to present a few of my newest pieces for the darker, gallery-like apartment below the basketball court. I set up the newest version of the 3D Cube, One & Two, and FireFly.
Ingo Maurer
April 12, 2005

I was fortunate enough to meet Ingo Maurer during his opening event at New York Design Week 2005. I presented him with my work and was graced the following day with a visit to my studio in Brooklyn by Mr Maurer and his colleagues. I enjoyed the visit immensely; we had a good discussion of ideas. While our styles are very different (his being more fluid & poetic and mine being more angular & systematic), his work was influential in making me recognize the importance of object lighting design.
