Opening at the MoMA
February 15, 2006

The opening of the event at MoMA went very well. It was great to see the Cloud 9 kids again and to meet new people.

This is at the first press opening on Feb 7th. Here we see all the architects and their entourages coming into the museum.

Terrence Riley gave a short speach talking about the exhibition and the various lectures that coincided at Columbia University.

Watching light play off architecture.

The Hotel Habitat, in Barcelona, designed by Enric Ruiz-Geli, is draped in a steel web of photovoltaic cells that illuminate at night.
Anyways, now I'm back in Memphis with Lantana and the FedEx Institute getting ready to build some great projects I think you all will enjoy!
"New Spanish Architects" at the MoMA in New York
February 05, 2006

The Habitat Hotel is a working scale model of a hotel by architect Enric Ruiz of Cloud 9 Architecture. The hotel consists of a building with an 'energy mesh' wrapped around it. This 'energy mesh' has individual nodes that collect the sun's energy during the day and at night gives off a specific color according to the amount of energy collected. The model's mesh consists of 500 tri-color LEDs controlled by a PIC microprocessor. Also imbedded in the model's mesh are photosensors which determine the brightness on them and give off a color according to the energy color scheme.
This model was created for the exhibition "New Spanish Architects" at the MoMA in New York, Feb 2006.
