Fluorescent Lights, Filters, Switches
Edition of 1 + 1 AP
Giant digital display made from FL tubes. Includes a control box that allows visitors to turn On and Off the segments to create words, numbers, and designs. A reference to digital electronics, the digital number ‘8’ was determined to be the least amount of segments needed to create a readable numbers and letters. The color blue is a reference to the latest LED color invented in Japan that allowed people to design with LEDs using a full spectrum of colors (red and green LEDs had been invented decades before). Blue 88 is a piece about the possibilities of visual media communication.
