Flatline
2005
Installation (dimensions variable)
Red Laser
A laser was installed in a designated smoking area in Shibuya Tokyo. Users interacted with the installation through the gesture of smoking. By exhaling smoke, the user dispersed a light diffuser that caused a flat red line to appear in mid-air. The more smokers present in the area, the stronger the flatline appeared.
A minimal, user-interactive, art installation, "Flatline" directly represented a medical flatline, created in mid-air with a laser and highlighted through the action of smoking. (Special thanks to Kanae and Yuko)
