This Fire Won’t Stop

(2016)
LED screen, computer, non-conductive liquid, metal table, aquarium
61cm x 61cm x 138cm

This work features a video of a stuntman on fire, edited into a seamless loop. He runs, spins, and pumps his fist while flames dance around him. The video is played on an LED screen that is submerged in a non-conductive liquid, allowing the display to run ‘under water’.

The work combines various opposing forces: fire & water, digital technology and analog liquid. The man is on fire but his actions seem almost energetic and happy, while the never-ending loop makes him just exist in this state.
