The 3D Display Cube encourages the viewer to think about the limitations of current display systems and the representation of spatial data. To be able to recreate spatial data will allow us to display ideas closer to the way we envision and experience them; with depth. The 3D Display Cube was hand built and constructed from one thousand individually controllable LEDs soldered into a 10x10x10 freestanding matrix. Each LED acts as one spatial pixel and can be refreshed at a rate of over 60 fps creating a low resolution 3D television. The Cube has an input device (serial input) that allows data to be sent to the cube to manipulate the 3D data live. The display unit can then be hooked up to a camera for live video input , or to a sound module chip to take in live audio input.

This system is patented and under developement.
